If you choose your site carefully, you will have a wonderful experience. This campground is really geared toward tenters, as those sites are on the water and a bunch (West Bay) near flush toilets/showers. Middle Bay and East Bay have only outhouses which are not for the faint-of-heart, BUT, if you're looking for wooded quiet, those are the sites to get. Some beautiful ones on the water (but yes, there is a drop-off due to the nature of the coastline - not for little ones less than 4 or 5, or if your child is a daredevil). I chose one near the flush toilets as I brought a 4 yo and also wanted to be near the playground. It was a great choice - an inland (but had great water views) site facing East and the gardens. Nice and shady in the hot afternoon. Check the compass orientation on the campground map to decide if you want your tent lit up first thing in the morning, or sun in the afternoon. Some sites are sunny or shady all day, you really have to check it out or ask before you reserve. Their descriptions on the website are pretty accurate. Mine said "fairly private" and "some shade" and that's what it was. GREAT place for children who love farms, although not much of a sandy beach if that's what is important to you.
