We had a bad day at Miller's landing. The staff and owners were awesome in helping us recover, but the outfit did not have the best set up to help novice kayakers be successful. We took a kayak tour, or at least we tried to.

We had iffy weather and choppy seas when we headed out. We ended up flipped in 42 degree water. Though we are very thankful to the staff and owners for helping us get back to shore, and our body temperatures back up. Our situation could have been really bad if it had been at the end of the tour rather than the beginning.

I'm sure Miller's landing has fine tours, but I would recommend it for only the experied and well outfitted kayaker. Our rescue from the water ended well, but I feel it would be irresponsible to not inform others that I would not use this outfitter unless you are experienced and able to provide your own dry suits. Heading out into the weather we went into with only rain gear and last minute beach training was ill advised.

We were lucky. A half hour in the water left us cold, but the hot shower and fire provided by the Miller's landing staff mended us quickly. The staff issued refunds or rescheduled tours for everyone on the trip. That being said we were lucky. We hope that this post will help you have a wonderful trip with no luck required.
