The bartender was condescending from the moment I took a seat, which felt odd for a well lit place on an early summer evening. But whatever, a lot of bartenders are unfriendly, and my wife and I were thirsty.

Then I ordered a Bushmills to go with my beer and was soon presented with 1 oz. It was the least amount of liquid I've ever been given as a "serving" anywhere, ever. But hey, I reasoned, Bushmills is my favorite commodity Irish whiskey and the whole point is to unwind, so why complain?

So I drank this thimble and the liquor was unmistakably watered down! I know from vast experience what genuine Bushmills tastes like and this was at least half water. I looked closer at the bottle up on the shelf and it did indeed look much lighter in color than it should, too. I felt insulted, defrauded even. What kind of monster defiles whiskey to rob customers?

So I asked for the check - two Spotted Cows and 1/2oz of middle shelf whiskey was apparently $15. The receipt wasn't itemized, so I can't rightly say how much he bilked me for that one. I tipped on the beer only, $2, and left a brief note on the merchant copy. I will never be back.
