An Elegant and sumptuous venue on the banks of the Yarra. I've attended functions there many dozens of times over the years. The Crowns entrance foyer is huge and impressive with its ceiling light and sound show which is also filled with Christmas Dioramas and Animatronics in December. There are water fountains and a truly enormous black marble staircase winding up to the upper level. This vast foyer opens out onto the entrance lobby for the Crown Hotel, and the rest of the Complex, shops, Casino and Restaurants. Many tourists come here just to enjoy the surroundings which are again sumptuous and elegant. The massive Palladium function room is rivalled in size in Melbourne only by Atlantic at Docklands, which is also a massive function centre. Crown has several function rooms varying in size. The Palladium seats around 2000 with a huge stage and dance floor. The River room is smaller and seats maybe 300 or so at capacity and has huge floor to ceiling windows looking out on the Yarra with incredible high up views of the Flame Towers, the Yarra and the city on the opposite side. Balconies so you can stand outside and enjoy the unique views.
