The Great Aussie bush camp.

The Great Aussie bush camp.

First of all there is no way that this camp is great, maybe tough and enduring would be more appropriate in this instance. I'm writing this review from the bus about to leave and as I cast my eye over the green, mosquito and fly ridden area of dank air I see many fun activities. The activities themselves are perhaps the best part of this camp. I say best, meaning not bad. The giant swing is fun for about 2 minutes when it is your turn but otherwise enduring. Raft building and the lost island are fun but you might not be able to see out of the mud. I also believe a cut I received on the course is now infected. Other activities like canoeing are fun but are not done any favours by the muddy water they inhabit. By the way this is a review of this camp. I understand it is a bush camp and is meant to be tough but some aspects are both disgusting and vile. The accomodation is at best protective. You are kept in a tent that is restirictive, leaks like a colander EVEN WHEN THERE IS NO RAIN and has no standing room. I am not tall, about 5 foot 9 but I struggled to fit in both the bed and the showers. That takes me to the showers. Never before in my life have I seen a more dangerous and utterly disgusting shower block. The paint on the floor is cracked, posing a risk of both slipping and getting your foot stuck in the torn off bits of paint. I come from the biggest school in the state and I can tell you the waits were long and painful. The camps food is the POLAR OPPOSITE of hygienic, nutritious, filling or tasty. The pworst part of the food is there is about a fifth of a normal serving to a plate and YOU CANT HAVE SECONDS without riskily trying to convince the instructors you hadn't had any. Day one we had a small burger with green meat for lunch and a BBQ for dinner which was arguably the least bad meal we had. Here the meals went down in standard to cheap spice and bad vegateables on crappy rice. No one ate it. The best bit was the "garlic bread" (slice of bread with some garlic thrown on it).
