If i could give zero stars i would. My daughter just moved into Statesider at University of Wisconsin in Madison. it was an absolute disaster, disgusting, no staff, no help, nothing. And. we were promised 24 hour security only to find out on move in that they changed that to 18 hour security. not good business!! This ruined our daughter's college move in experience, what a shame!! we should have chosen the dorms. We were extremely disappointed in the conditions of the lobby, hallways and rooms, and the lack of staff on hand to help out during such a hectic time. While I do understand that you had some staff turnover just prior to move-in, the fact that so many rooms were not ready is inexcusable in my opinion. For example, our daughter s room was missing a fridge and a desk, and my husband and another father had to carry these items to their room from the 10th floor. Further, the bathroom in the unit was not painted and missing a shower curtain, and finally, the door handle on the front door was broken.

But most importantly, we discovered that none of the smoke alarms had working batteries, and we replaced them all. That is a safety violation and very alarming. I really hope that your maintenance team has checked all of the alarms.

Our daughter was very excited to move into Statesider, and she felt frustrated and disappointed as well. Having experienced move-in with my older daughter at another university, I can easily say that what we experienced last weekend was not the norm, and certainly not comforting to a parent leaving a freshman son or daughter at school.

We would appreciate hearing back from you about the status of the repairs and maintenance, about the smoke alarms and also about security. We were told that there would be security from 10 pm to 5 am, and the night we were there at 10:40 pm, no security guard was present. Further, when we signed the lease, we had the understanding that there would be someone at the front desk at all times. Currently, there is a gap of coverages between 5 and 10 pm. We are not ok with this.
