Considering the cost of almost $300 per night the experience was very disappointing. There was one guy working the front desk on a Friday night who rushed our check in. Were provided with a cheap xerox map which was hard to read and spent 20 mins looking for the room. There is an elevator but it's for staff only - this hotel is 5 stories and we were on floor 3. No brochure of hotel amenities in the room which would be helpful.
NO hot water, dirt/dust on the bed, rough towels and sheets. Confusing coffee maker that makes about 4 tablespoons of coffee. They block the Wi-Fi on your phone so you have to pay for theirs, and I even had problems using my phone in the room. Again you pay to use the room phone.
The absolute WORST part was the old bed that was painful to wake up in. You can practically feel the box springs in you back. They brought a plywood board to place under the mattress but that didn't help. Seriously?? I've stayed in holiday inns with much nicer mattresses. I live 2 miles away so i just drove home to sleep while my friend stayed. This is absolutely unacceptable and we debated whether we should ask to switch rooms on day 3 of a 4 night stay. I was so disgusted at this point I just wanted to go home. As I write this review 6 weeks later I'm still disgusted.
Also anytime I tried to find a hot tub to soothe my wrecked back from their horrible bed I couldn't because selfish people let their kids play in them for hours. Asked if there was an adult only hot tub and it was closed. The cliffside restaurant was also closed. Staff are all college kids who don't seem to have any clue about hospitality but it's not their fault Hilton is cheap. This was supposed to be a nice staycation with a friend visiting from Chicago but ended up being a disaster.
The positives about Pointe Tapatio is the suites are very large and it is a gorgeous property hence the 2 star review instead of 1 star.
