Other then the one nurse who took care of my mom during the night, who was a wonderful and kind human being, this hospital is a joke with more then it's fair share of rude people and liars who were inconsiderate to a person's ailment. Even though she was promised that they would make her comfortable with her own room, they wheeled her out of the surgery recovery room and stuck her in a basement in a corner with no clock and a faulty phone. On top of that when we came in it smelled like an autopart store (that smell that gives you an instant headache). At first they treated my mom rudely because they thought she couldn't speak English to which my mom, in perfectly fine English, shut them up. Oh they had also told her two different times for her surgery. My mom called to confirm the hour and they told her 4:30. When she arrived she was greeted with scoldings because her surgery was supposed to be at 3:00. The nurse in the morning treated her like a piece of trash also. Mom told her that she didn't feel well because of how she had been treated and the nurse told her not to ruin her day because she just got there. She didnt see her for a while. Mom eventually was able to get the phone to work and was able to call the operator of the hospital. The nurse immediately came in and rudely asked my mom why she called the operator and that it was going to get her in trouble. Eventually another kind nurse came in and helped my mom to the bathroom, took her vitals, gave her pain medicine and insulin which should have been done by the assigned nurse. The resident doctor who came after my mom asked to see a doctor because no one talked to her sbout how the procedure went or what she had to do at home was apparently angry at the world and also took it out on mom. There was also a mix up with the pharmacy in which my dad had to walk the labyrinth that is Georgetown University Hospital (much like the city it's in) three times because they had messed the prescriptions up. Not great since he has a bad knee. They had given them someone else's prescriptions and apparently the pharmacy can't communicate directly to the hospital staff. Oh did I mention cell phones don't work in this hospital so communicating is a real pain in the ass. The Queen B**** of them all is the secretary for the surgeons. Beware of her. She has all these self help quotes in her cubicle which would indicate that she is a kind and considerate human but she doesn't practice what she preaches. You know there were a few very helpful people like the lady in the waiting room, the two nurses, the janitor, the transporters, and a random OR staff member who noticed I got lost in the hospital but the bad outweigh those good people. No one in pain should be treated the way my mom was so I highly recommend you go to another hospital where people are treated like humans.
