The worst hospital I've ever been to. The staff - not just a few bad apples, but the staff as a whole - are very unkind. This is not just my experience, but was shared by all the other patients I had contact with while in there, as well as one of my friends who had been treated there years ago. The doctors are particularly callous, and will only interact with you briefly and rudely before rushing away. If you take more than a few seconds to articulate answers to their questions they will simply leave and make their decisions without properly consulting you to obtain accurate information. The doctor I was assigned when I was admitted was the worst but not too different from the other doctors I interacted with, only difference being that she cut our assessment short and outright refused to speak to me until the next day. I had to beg to be discharged so I could go find help elsewhere. The ER nurses seem to yell at everyone. All the staff seem to operate under a policy that all patients are to be treated as mere annoyances. I'm not exactly sure why these professionals have pursued careers in healthcare rather than fields where they wouldn't need to interact with people seeking help. Also, their COVID-19 policy is the worst of any hospital I've seen in Toronto. Patients aren't screened for the virus, visitors are allowed, patients are admitted to full wards without any prior quarantine, and only the nurses have access to hand sanitizer beyond the front entrance. Masks are suggested but not enforced. I also think that it is worth note that the hand soap in the bathrooms is scented, while every other hospital I have been to is explicitly scent-free. It seems like a little thing but it is indicative of how little effort they put into making the hospital safe for patients. All in all, I would recommend finding somewhere else unless you are in critical condition with no better option.
