Honestly, I had the worst dance class of my life today. After dancing for 10 years, I took a 13 year hiatus. I recently wanted to get back into dance, fully aware I'd be rusty. The class today (beginning ballet) was awful. The instructor singled me out numerous times, asked me to dance behind a pillar away from everyone else and unable to actually see the choreography. There was nothing supportive or positive, and sadly something I used to love was momentarily destroyed. The instructor hardly demonstrated any of the sequences, and just "assumed" we knew all of his bar routines. Making us line up, calling rank on ability, I've never felt so terrible and am tempted to hang up my ballet shoes. The mean Russian teacher demeanor doesn't belong in a beginner drop in class.
