My review is for the restaurant in the bar area of Langdon Hall. First off, I have eaten in the dining room before - for breakfast, a couple of times. The breakfast is excellent - buffet table or a la carte. The service in the dining room was attentive, professional and friendly on both occasions. I would almost say 'expert service' and truly delicious food. This time I went for lunch with friends and ate in the bar. There was one gentleman working for the entire bar area - first mistake. It took him 15 minutes to greet us after he sat us down, at which time he then offered us menu's. He proceeded to walk away - no drink order taken. We then sat for 15 minutes more before he took our drink order. Strike 2. Half an hour to be offered service in a 5 star establishment is completely unacceptable. We finally were graced with his presence (yes, he was busy and by himself) and placed our drink order. The drinks took quite a while to arrive, and it was at that time that we decided to place our order. The appetizers came out about 20 minutes later and were well presented and delicious. We also received bread and butter at this time. I make no bones about the food - rest assured, the quality is reflective of the price paid. The main courses arrived about 30 minutes later, and were also excellent - temperature, quality and presentation. The only complaint that was shared was really more of a suggestion - the burger bun would have been perfect had it been toasted and warm. I write this review as my expectations are high, and rightfully so for Langdon Hall. The place is beautiful. The service is usually impeccable and warm and the food is absolutely delicious, but for goodness sake's, if the bar area is near full, get the poor server some help. Management really blew it here. It was just plain wrong and stressful for us to have to wait for as long as we did for service, throughout the meal. With so few great restaurants in the GTA, the drive to Cambridge should be worth it from start to finish. Period.
