My mother, Marie Bonner, has been a resident at PPH since November 2019 following a traumatic injury at home. Due to cognitive and safety issues, our home environment was no longer safe for her. It was a heartbreaking decision for us to have to place her in assisted living. I am a registered nurse and one of my brothers is a funeral director. We have both had persons from nursing homes in our care and many of them were in deplorable states so there was also significant anxiety on our part as to the level of care and overall treatment that our mother would receive.
The PPH staff has completely absolved us of our fears. While our mother is still adjusting to the assisted living setting, I can honestly say that we have full confidence in the PPH staff. During the Coronvirus pandemic - separation is difficult. We speak with her daily and it is obvious that she is being cared for. She raves about the morning kitchen staff, John her physical therapist and the "laundry lady." Many times when we are chatting, she will interrupt because someone stopped by to check on her or remind her it was mealtime. On those occasions when I have had a special concern and contacted the nursing staff, they immediately investigated and returned my calls to reassure that everything was fine.
Whenever we were visiting pre-COVID-19, the facility and her room were always well-maintained and and my mother was clean and comfortable.
I also have to send a special thank you to Fran Bojazi and Mary (I am going to spell it wrong -sorry) Bergerhof. They are always kind, patient and ready to assist with calls and questions.
I could go on and on - about the staff, the upbeat atmosphere, the increased stimulation and socialization that my mom did not have at home.
There is a special place in heaven for all of you and be assured that the Bonner Family is very grateful for all you do. In the current crisis - stay healthy and optimistic. And thank you for everything!
