Patty S Review of Wilmot Mountain
AMATEUR HOUR AT ITS FINEST .
AMATEUR HOUR AT ITS FINEST .
1. You would think that buying tickets only online would give the people at Wilmot a count of the number of people that would be show up on a particular day. Nope. Had to wait ONE HOUR just to pick up lift tickets. Apparently, they were unprepared for the number of people, despite the fact they knew how many people bought lift tickets from their computer system. No one made an attempt to explain to the crowd what was happening and no one made an effort to rectify the problem. Instead, it was just "oh yeah, we're really busy today or We didnt know schools were off or Its the busiest day of the year." You would think a ski resort would have systems in place that streamline the process when its busy. Nope.
2. Oh, and once you get your lift tickets, you have to wait in ANOTHER, LONGER line to get your equipment (see photos), assuming they haven t run out of that equipment while you re waiting in that aforementioned line. So essentially you have to wait another 1.5 hours to learn if they have enough equipment for you to use. In all, it took 2.5 HOURS from the time we arrived until we were actually on the snow.
3. You might be asking, well why didn t you get a refund? According to their fine print, you can t, unless you cancel by midnight the night before. And to do that you have to email or call. The problem with that is that NO one responds. I left no less than 3 voicemails with my name and number while waiting in line, and didn t get one response back. Not one. The funny thing is that even when I got to the window, one hour later, and voiced my displeasure, they said I could get a refund, but would have to call or email to get it. Um hello? Whats the point of a phone number if no one picks up???
I should have read the reviews, because I m not the first person have this type of experience.
4. The staff that load the lifts are constantly scanning people to ensure that you have a valid lift ticket. A bit over the top, but ok. And one guy was constantly harping on people to ensure they had their masks on appropriately. Fair enough. BUT when you walk into the lodge, where Covid is FAR more of an issue, NO one is enforcing masking at all, for the patrons or the employees. It makes no sense whatsoever. Not to mention at the top to the ski lift there was a huge pile up because the teenage attendant was not paying attention, which is another safety issue. Welcome to Wisconsin, I guess.
I suppose if you make it to the slopes its fine, but you should know it s amateur hour at its finest. And don t expect anything from their staff regarding information or customer service. I mean, at least make it seem like you are competent and you care
