It is a wonderful walk! We were lucky enough to go there on a sunny day and it was really beautiful.
The walking time from side to side is about 45 minutes. We took a bus that dropped us off exactly at one end and on the other side, even though it was crazy spot, but we took another bus to be dropped off at the pier and go back to San Francisco by boat but it was a very nice and cheap tour you can try.
