I had gotten ill, and am on disability. The original creditor I tried working with (Citibank) refused basically to offer any help or consideration in my attempt to pay the debt down. I had been working at a good paying job, but my disability prevents me now from being able to work. They reported the debt to Cavalry Portfolio and I was horrified. I didn't immediately contact Cavalry, being overwhelmed and without much hope. Last month I received a letter from them with an offer to settle the debt. I called them. I have NEVER EVER had better customer service!!! They were marvelously nice, respectful, and considerate of my situation. Not only was I able to pay it off but they have been removing the collection account from the credit bureaus. If ALL these collection agencies operated this way, people wouldn't be AFRAID to deal with them and get out from under situations that sometimes life throws at us. I am SO VERY pleased and grateful for the kindness these folks offered.
