I would not recommend Homewood for a beginner due to the lack of terrain that is easily accessible from the lifts. For an intermediate, the resort is great. It is less crowded and offers some great opportunities to maximize your ski time. The biggest downside is that most of their lifts have not been upgraded and are pretty slow, and there aren't that many lifts on the mountain. The mid-mountain "lodge" is really a very large tent that provides good shelter and packaged food (they grill outside on sunny days). Bathrooms are outside which requires a bit of a hike down an incline and up some stairs. It's a family resort with reasonable prices and friendly people, so don't expect 5 star accommodations, but what they have in place is adequate if you aren't a snob.
