While renting from CLV I actually, in desperation, turned to calling the police to get heat turned on so my apartment would be habitable. (This worked! Thanks Ottawa Police; I know it wasn't really your jurisdiction.) Later I had to bathe elsewhere for a few days while brown sludge dripped from the bathroom ceiling. CLV employees thought nothing of randomly appearing in my apartment without warning. Scary folk.

On the plus side I got to know my neighbours -- nothing like bad landlording to give you something to chat about in the halls...

They are also Ottawa's worst for crap cosmetic upkeep while letting buildings rot. So many once-nice properties downtown are CLV'ed now and occasionally get shutters painted while everything else falls to bits, and the entire city gets to suffer the eyesores of their enormous signage.
