My father died of CJD, however I would never have known this if it was left up to Kaweah Delta Hospital and doctors involved in my father's care. He was transferred to a hospital in Monterey where they were able to do a lumbar puncture and send it to a facility in Cleveland Ohio where they do research on CJD. The thing is that my dad had a lumbar puncture done at Kaweah, but when the doctor at Monterey called the neurologist at Kaweah to find out if the results were back in, they told him that the sample was never sent to the facility in Cleveland, which is the only place in the United States that is designated for lab testing possible CJD samples. So Monterey Hospital took another lumbar puncture sample and sent it to Cleveland, which took a couple weeks to get results. By then my father was no longer awake and conscious and was on hospice. Had Kaweah Delta health care professionals actually been professional and done their job, we would have had the diagnosis weeks earlier when he was still aware and able to communicate with us. I would have liked to say some things to him before he passed. I would not go to this hospital for a paper cut. Go to Fresno
