I'm going to give Carnivale a 4, but it's more like a 3.5. It's has a beautiful interior - colorful, high ceilings, a lot of seating.

Where I think it's a bit disappointing is the food. Although the menu looks to have great offerings, I just didn't think the execution of any of it was that good at all. The calamari wasn't more exceptional than an average Greek or Italian restaurant in Chicago. The skirt steak was OK, but dare I say I might even say Uncle Julio might have a better skirt steak.

I'd say come here for the atmosphere. It's fun with it's decor, but don't expect to be blown away by the food - there is a ton more in the West Loop area if you're looking for seriously unique plates.
