TeamLab Borderless is truly a borderless experience. Unparalleled in digital art exhibitions, this place is crowded with tourists from all over the world. The concept is simple, living art that can move from one room to another, a borderless space for the living art. And it is such a beautiful space.
They are located in Odaiba, Tokyo, right next to the big observation wheel that you can spot from faraway. There will be a line, this I can promise, it took me 1 hour to line up to the entrance. Their price is exactly the same as TeamLab Planets, 3,200 yen. A great price for a 5 hour fun inside this huge warehouse.
When you go in there, you will be able to move around as you like, since there is no process on where to go from one art installation to the next, it s just one big art warehouse that you can enjoy. This place consisted of 2 walkable floors, the 1st one on which you will find the entrance, and the 2nd floor on which you will find many children interactive art exhibitions.
The entrance will bring you to either the waterfall room or the butterfly room, they are connected but not right away. You will be immersed in the floral projection pattern immediately and will find yourself lost in the middle of it all. If you follow along the path sooner or later you will find hidden areas that host different art installations. On the 1st floor you can find the hanging garden of which there will be a line to it, the lighting room, the infinity led room, the swallow forest, the glass mirror room, the open cave where a projected bird roam around freely, the indoor pixels art, and others. I actually found some rooms completely by accident and could not find them again afterwards.
On the 2nd floor you will be able to enjoy the charming future park world that are geared towards younger audience. Wonderful exhibitions such as the sketch aquarium, balloon room, the wonderful tea room (tea in extra cost), the open park with trampoline and sketch animal, the block roads exhibition, the kids playground area, the climbing forest, and many more.
I have no doubt that you ll get overwhelmed with how much interactivity you can get out of this projector jungle. They boast having more than 570 projectors and computers on this one warehouse. And it is glorious!
You will find many people hang around a well lit area right next to the toilet around the warehouse, because that s the only place with vending machine if you find yourself thirsty. Or you can try the relaxing tea room for an extra cost which I highly recommend.
Overall, this place is huge and extraordinary, it represents what imagination can achieve if we bring another depth into our living art, the interaction and relationship that bloom from our 5 senses. It s well worth the price to visit this space, and I highly recommend visiting after lunch or after breakfast since you will be spending some time in here.
