If you're staying in Paris, it's well worth a day trip out to Versailles (only 1.70 each way when we visited and you get to ride a double decker train - novel experience for a brit)
It really is worth making a day of it to see all and I highly recommend downloading the audio-guide app (free on Google play and Apple store) it's free and we downloaded it in the queue - really brings the rooms to life as you get more of a story and history - it's free and easy to use.
