The Hudson Bay Company (HBC) is an institution with roots long before Canada was Canada. In fact the Hudson Bay company was given trading rights for large portions of Canada and central parts surrounding the Great lakes including now United States territories as part of British North America in 1670. Fur trading communities were formed by these trading posts. Despite this, the HBC really cheated indigenous people of their lands and a bunch of other negative things.
That is enough history...
This HBC store at St Laurent has been a cornerstone for the mall for decades. The retail market is an extremely hard market to compete with all of the online shopping today. I like going to this Bay store so I can actually feel the merchandise and try things on. The store selection is good and prices are reasonable. The store lay out is logical and customer service is good. I still return to this store to buy things and maybe we all should do more shopping there to support local Canadian operated businesses. Now limited to curb side service due to Covid 19 in accordance with Provincial restrictions.
