For the most part, I don't mind my experiences at Mike Shaw. I mean, it's probably as good as it gets for car shopping. And the Service Team is fantastic. I've worked with a number of different reps there and they are always super kind and fair.

My only bad example was from last week. I got a flat sometime Thursday evening on my way home from work. I ended up figuring it out when I threw my Subaru Legacy into reverse pulling out of the garage flying out the door on my way to work. Wrong. Flat as effff. So I called Mike Shaw and the fella on the phone said "Absolutely, no problem. We will fit you in." Even better, I already had a quote for a super fair price for some good 75,000 mile Continental Tires last time I had gotten my oil changed. So we went with that.

Turns out they didn't get the car done that night. Well, understood. I did throw it at them last minute and I get it, things get busy. Whatever. So they said it would be done by 1030am when we would be piling into the Subaru after classes at the gym etc to head up to Winter Park for a concert overnight. But it wasnt. They called at at 1030am and said it'd be ready in 30 minutes. Well I didn't believe them by then and was pretty pissed and wasn't really afraid to tell them. To compound things we weren't going to be home until super late Sunday night and they were acting like it was a total inconvenience that I needed them to leave the keys in the car and I would have to pay them over the phone.

So they called back later that afternoon at like 1 or 130pm to say the car was done (right - 35 minutes later) . To apologize they did end up giving us a small but completely fair and reasonable discount on the service. I wouldn't have minded so much except that they were stringing me along a bit for my business. I run a business too, so I feel like I would rather "under promise and over deliver " rather than whatever the hell happened that day.

That is pretty much the exception though to my experiences. I've always been greeted warmly and welcome and offered complimentary beverages and the WiFi password or the remote control or whatever. The prices aren't unreasonable and I know they do a good job. I'd go back, but only because I'm not super into going to those huge huge nationwide corporations that only do a piece of the maintenance. I'm willing to pay a little more for the reliability and quality work.
