She s big. I mean we all know she s big, but when you disembark the ferry and get really close, she is immensely huge. And her history is fantastic. She symbolises all the best things about America: freedom, democracy and international friendship. But mostly she s just impressively large. We went there on a Reserve Ticket, which is sold as a round trip with Ellis Island access. There are also options for pedestal access, crown access and a hard hat tour, any of which we would have loved to experience; but they were booked up months in advance so you ll need to be planning way ahead to have a hope of booking one of these. On the ordinary Reserve Ticket, the whole round trip costs $19.25 for adults, $14 for seniors and $9 for kids and it s even cheaper if you combine it with a bunch of other attractions on a CityPASS. Unbelievable value both to visit Ellis Island and to crane your neck at the statue s glorious enormousness.
