Sanne Hagemans Review of Travel Active
From the end of August to the end of October 2013 ...
From the end of August to the end of October 2013 I went to Zambia with Travel Active for 2 months to do volunteer work and experience the journey of a lifetime. The choice for Travel Active came after I had been to one of the information evenings of Travel Active. Here I received a lot of information and I could ask all my questions. I also received an e-mail address from an old volunteer who had also been to Zambia, so that I could ask specific questions. Very nice to be helped immediately. I was also helped with the preparation of my trip and I could always call if I had any questions.
And then the journey really begins, flying on your own to an unknown country, exciting but also great fun! For me it was really a 'Welcome in Africa' as on arrival in Livingstone there was no one with a sign with my name on it. That may be a shock, but luckily after some phone calls and waiting, I was picked up anyway. The volunteer work that I was able to do in Livingstone was also a great experience (helping in a medical clinic). The nice thing about Travel Active was that you are completely free, of course this is exciting in the beginning. But when I saw that other volunteers from other organizations had a very fixed rhythm and always had a supervisor who came with them, I was happy that I could decide for myself what to do and get on my bike and see what Livingstone was all about . It does require some initiative of course, but you need that anyway when you start doing volunteer work.
All in all the 2 months have flown by and I wish I had had more time to see and do more in beautiful Africa. I recommend everyone if you have the chance to grab it and gain experience with volunteering and visit beautiful parts of the world. And if you have made that choice, then also choose Travel Active, they can help you with everything you might know less about.
Love Sanne
