So my wife and I finally got a weekend to get away...
So my wife and I finally got a weekend to get away from working at the hospital since the covid-19 pandemic started. We decided to go to the big city of Dallas to get a hotel room just to relax. We went to the Hyatt Hotel thinking it would be really cool to have a view of the big city at night on the highest floor they had available. Upon entering room 2366 we noticed a piece of paper sticking out from behind the desk. It was the previous customers receipt with all of their contact information and address on it from 3 months ago. Just out of curiosity a quick Google search and with the use of a GPS it put me at 4 hours and 17 minutes from that customers front door step. I then looked behind the desk and noticed the electrical outlets and wires were sticking out of the walls. That wasn't a big deal we just wanted a clean place to sleep. However, we then noticed a huge slice of old pizza hanging over the top of the headboard of the bed. I'm thinking we should have mailed that piece of pizza to the customer to see if they wanted to finish it. That slice of pizza then called our attention to the oily handprints all over the headboard along with some white crusty stuff that would flake off. It looked like cake frosting or something of the sort. We walked over to the window to look at the view only to find a big shard of glass right under the window. Like really??? We were disgusted at how dirty the room was so I walked down to the lobby and reported it. I showed them detailed pictures of everything we were greeted with. They said they would give us another room that night and not charge us for it. We had to switch rooms at 1:30 in the morning which was not inconvenient at all. Before we could go to the new room they asked for us to wait until housekeeping went up there to make sure the new room was clean first. This seems like something that should not have to be done. At this point we were considering going back home. We just country folk with a dog and 8 chickens living in our house but even our chickens know to pick up their pizza leftovers from the bed. We finally get to our new room at 2 a.m. in the morning only to be greeted with the previous customers DNA plastered all over the headboard. The new room was supposed to be an upgrade but it was actually three floors down. It doesn't seem like much but you actually lose some of the view. The next night we met a couple of the same age as my wife and I in the lobby and invited them up to our room to have a few beers that were lukewarm because the fridge was not cold. During one of our conversations the husband even mentioned all of the stains on the headboard. It was quite embarrassing to have new friends over at a room only to be offered hot beer and a beautiful view of a love stained bed. Forgive my language but this is what we had to see and sleep with. The hotel was gracious enough to give us a discount of $30 off of our room the next night. Ultimately we spent roughly $200 for all of the above on our first weekend off in months. I would highly recommend saving your money and going to a Motel 6. We feel that the hotel should have done more to compensate us for dealing with all of that. Save your money and go somewhere else
