We visited vatican museum on the First day of our trip. Its better to have an advance online booking because there's a big queue for booking if you want to buy tickets on the spot. And there are agents outside who will try to make extra money from people who don't know the correct price of entry tickets. Talking about inside of the museum, if you are an art enthusiast and really interested in History this is the right place for you to enjoy whole day...It took us 4 hours to cover all museums inside. There are around 10-12 museums and art galleries and many parts of the Sistine chapel, which will take a lot of time to cover.
When you visit Rome be prepared to give one complete day for Vatican Museums.
