Dropped off car before 8AM and was told it would be ready by 4PM. They never called so I called at 3:55 pm and was told they didn't have a chance to look at it. The car had been serviced 3 years prior for same problem (a broken wire under the driver's seat which triggered the service required light with seatbelt / airbag lamp lit up).

They said they would scan for codes which was okay by me.($90 approx.) The Technician unbolted the driver seat to check the harness wires and then saw it was repaired before. He recommended a new harness for...get this$1257.00 based on a part number that was for an Outlander seat adjuster and nothing to do with wiring. I said I needed the car and would reschedule service ad they were closing. They could fix the wire for 2 hours labour at $145/hour. We drove the car a couple of days and discovered the Technician hadn't reinstalled the rear bolts on the driver's seat. ( thank god we weren't in a accident)

I took the opportunity to take the other 2 bolts out and looked under the seat. With a flash light found the broken wire spliced and soldered it, replaced the seat with all 4 bolts, started the car and the trouble was gone. Cost me 1 hour of my time and some solder and heat shrink tubing.
