Me and my husband love coming to D.C , and have stayed at many other places and read a lot about this hotel. Pictures and website showed a very nice hotel ! So we decided to book and we were very excited ( as it s our anniversary) ! We had a long drive from NJ so checked in at 12, staff was very welcoming and friendly. When we went up to our room , all the windows were open ! If you can imagine how COLD it was as it s the end of February. We closed them all and put up the heat , we stepped out and came back we noticed a very strong sent , as of someone who has been smoking and not just cigarettes (BTW this hotel does not allow smoking in the rooms ). We were able to speak to a manager and they offered to have us moved across town at 1:30 AM , which we weren t pleased with. Managers , and staff did everything they could to help us , but unfortunately not enough was done to solve our problem. A very polite man from house keeping sprayed our room just so we could stay the night. We then canceled the rest of our stay at the Hamilton. I wish we had a better experience , but this is one bad experience... hotel is beautiful and a great place to stay for the weekend. We are just upset that unfortunately nothing had been done before we were checked in ,when clearly this issue had been noticed before as windows were all open. Hotel was very happy to give us a full refund and still helped us as much as they could. And for that we are thankful
