This review is for this location as a conference venue. Paradise Point is on an island on the northwestern side of SD, making it rather inconvenient to get to/from without a car. It is also essentially impossible to visit downtown SD without committing several hours to it.
The resort consists of rooms sprawled out across a large area spaced out by roads and parking spaces, which makes getting from the room to the conference hall a journey in itself. During off-season, their primary restaurant is closed, so you don't have any choice for dining aside from their bar/grill options (can't walk anywhere to eat since it's an island)
The conference rooms are cramped, and the lighting is poorly thought out. The sun sets opposite of the projection screen, washing out the slides. Additional, there was another conference happening at the same time, and we could hear everything going on in the other rooms. The walkway to our conference location was perpetually closed, requiring us to do some pathfinding to the hall. To top it all off, every morning during our break (around 10:30AM) the cleaning folks decides to close the bathrooms for cleaning, which made breaks extra long and disruptive.
Finally, the rooms themselves were subpar. Towels were stained. Little critters could be found in the bathtubs and bedsides. The rooms are connected as pairs, which is likely good for large families, but in our case it means we could hear every argument, bouts of babies crying, and other activities out neighbor pursued in addition to the loud outdoor parties other residents hosted.
All in all, this venue was functional as a conference venue, but far from optimal. It is clear that the conference event and its attendees were not considered valued clientele.
