Living Social had a deal for Cliffbreakers and our anniversary was coming up and we have never been away from our kids yet so I thought. ..oh this place looks nice and cozy...a hop skip and a jump from home...let's do it. I soooo should have read these reviews first. We arrived and the place was interesting. A lot of antiques and I thought the place was vintage. ..however I asked the to staff how old and they said it was built in 1998! I asked for an upgrade at check in and she said she gave us one. We stayed on the main floor and had a river view...ok more like a big tree view with the river behind it somewhere.
The room itself was bare. Nothing but two beds a worn out couch and table and nothing but dirt on the walls. No curtains just blinds. Very uninviting. The bathroom was...um I guess the major parts were clean...I wouldn't recommend using the shower. ..looked gross.
We decided to eat at the restaurant because the front desk said it was excellent and their chef was phenomenal. We ordered two drinks...that had an awful weird metallic taste. We figured out later it was something in the water...disgusting!
The food....at best...edible. my husband has the prime rib...which he really like the flavor. I had the NY strip...ok at best. We ordered he calamari which was quite bizarre..over cooked to boot.
Go somewhere else to eat.
During the night. ..I could hear everything going on in the hotel..walls and ceiling are paper thin. The rooms above us had a party til 430 in the morning and I got no sleep plus the room next to us was having a domestic and I had to bang on the wall! Never again.
