I will preface this by saying: mistakes happen. I get it. I walked in on a Friday morning promptly at 8AM with a smile on my face.

9 days prior, I received a parking citation at the Roselle Metra station even after paying using the mobile app as I always do. I visited the Roselle village website and found a remediation form used to review parking citations believed to be issued improperly. Filled it out, printed all my receipts, and visited the Police Department to submit it in person.

The official at the front desk walked up with food in her mouth and a frown on her face. I provided all the documents and she immediately began explaining that the remediation forms were no longer used - and that they should have been removed from the website (even though they had the SAME FORM taped to the window where I was standing - which I pointed out and was told that was "just informational").

Since I had in all these forms anyway, she said they'll review it, but warned me to "be careful" not to get another citation. She was rude and unhelpful when I further explained that I pay for parking every day as soon as I park and this was CLEARLY a citation issued in error. I asked what the process would be if this same situation were to happen again since the remediation form was obsolete (again, mistakes happen, I get it). She continued to tell me to "be careful" not to receive another citation - providing no additional information.

I left with my eyes rolling - knowing I wasted my time proving my innocence to this incompetent department.

Tip to those running the front desk: be kind and smile at minimum. At least try to help.

Tip to the parking maids checking cars at the Roselle Metra station: triple check before you issue citations.

Tip to the Roselle village webmaster: update any outdated information on the website to avoid confusion.

Tip to those in the same situation: print out all your receipts and include a printed copy of the citation (keep the original). Don't bother with the remediation form. Just bring in all your forms to the police station and be prepared to deflect any bad vibes from the front desk attendants. Better yet, call first.

The review only reflects the actions of the parking maid and the front desk and does not reflect any actions by any police officers.
