The staff were ALL so polite and friendly! Room on 32nd floor was SO quiet! The bed was a cloud from heaven (pillows too!). LOVED the deep soaker tub! The little shop with fresh food in the lobby...OMG, so good! They cook their own food in the hotel and stock this little shop! Gorgeous pastries, wine, cheese, sandwiches, salads. Around $10 for a sandwich and $10 for a salad, but fresh and very big. I was surprised at how trashy (install trash cans?) the beach in front of the hotel was though. Seriously? The pool needed a new plaster job. As well, the pools were FULL TO THE BRIM with kids!!! I'm an adult and prefer a calm pool experience so I did not use the pool due to over crowding. Furniture in the room was starting to show a little wear, but I know the hotel was purchased last year and is getting ready for a renovation. Room service food was so tasty! Nothing was within walking distance (stores/restaurants) of the hotel. Rental car is the way to go. Traffic was never a problem. I parked in the circle drive right in front of the hotel for a flat rate of $35 a day. Yeah, I know, big bucks, but hey, I walked out the front door to my parked rental car! Otherwise, you have to park in a parking garage, walk to and from it, AND still pay $25 a day, plus various taxes. I was very irritated with parking fees at the hotel. The valet men were all very polite and professional though! I wish I could go to Florida at stay at the Diplomat every 6 weeks for a short R&R!!! (They do have a small great gym. They have a beautiful convention center next door so make sure there is not a convention booked when you want to stay there). This is not an inexpensive hotel. This is a resort hotel so deep pockets are handy!
