We adopted a lab mix in early October. It was the evening at adoption time. The next day, we noticed the dog was underweight, with diarrhea. We immediately took him to the vet. The dog's last medical exam was in August. It showed in August the dog had this same condition. No one from Lab rescue had taken him to the vet. So they adopt out dogs before clearing them medically. It's been a month now. Over a 1,000 in medical bills later, this dog is slowly improving. On day 2 I called the woman who was fostering him. She said to just return him. I felt that since they didn't take care of him, we would. We really like him. I would not adopt from Lab rescue again. I felt that it was irresponsible of them not to give him a complete vet exam before adopting him out. Since we received his medical records the next day, our vet indicated this was an ongoing condition. This was not a new one. Simply adopting a dog out is not enough without proper vetinary care. It was clear to us that LRROF was neglectful.
