I called in asking about surrendering a kitten I found on my porch. I told the woman that I took this kitten to my vet and she has some medical issues. I told the woman that I couldn't financially support the poor thing and hoped I could surrender her to the humane society in hopes that she could be fostered or even adopted out to someone who can financially support her. The woman told me to come in on certain days to see the vet and to bring in the paperwork from the vet with me. I go in on the day she told me to and went up the receptionist. This person looked annoyed and told me to get the kitten vaccinated and to come back in two weeks. I told her, that is not what the person on the phone told me to do, if she did I would've. I walked away frustrated, went back to her and told her that the woman on the phone told me to come in with the paperwork to see the vet to surrender this kitten. I gave her the paperwork and she looked at it and told me that I was early and had to wait. She told me its been super busy today, even though there was only two guests sitting in the lobby. Not very professional at all, very rude. I waited an hour before I could see the vet, mostly waiting for my vet to fax over more info about the kitten. Finally the vet took in the kitten and just moments later brought her back out and said that they can't help her because she MIGHT have ringworm and I have to wait on the results. Even after that she told me that I couldn't surrender the kitten to them because she's not friendly ( I mean she's probably scared) and wouldn't get along with the other cats and stress everyone out. I asked her what to do, or if there's another place I could take her to and she basically told me that I SHOULDN'T mess with strays because you don't know what you'll get (health issues) and to put her down. Seriously?!There was no other options according to her and she didn't know about any other places to help cats. The vet wasn't pleasant to begin with and her blatantly telling me to never mess with any outdoor cats and to just put her down without a care in the world. I left frustrated and at a lost. I just wanted to help this kitten. A few weeks later I get a call from the humane society, saying she doesn't have ringworm and NOW they will take her in. SERIOUSLY? Your vet told me to basically give up on her or put her down and now you want to take her in? No thanks! With no help from the employees I talked to, I figured out a way to help this kitten. If this kitten can easily live a good life with possibly medication to help her out, why end it's life so suddenly? I'm a cat mom, and if this kitten has a fighting chance I'm going to give it her and she does. She's in a better place without their help. The staff was very rude and not very helpful. Zero stars.
