Today January 17 is the four year anniversary of my husband Jim s death. I would like to thank Joliet Area Community Hospice for it s compassionate care of Jim. I as well as my family were overwhelmed when the doctors informed us that Jim had a condition that they no longer had a treatment for. Jim s phrenic nerves were paralyzed and there was no cure. At the time of this diagnosis I was the Bereavement Coordinator at Joliet Area Community Hospice and knew immediately I wanted JACH to care for my husband. At the time of the hospice recommendation I was also informed that Jim probably had 5 days to live. Jim lived 3 more months. I believe the excellent care provided Jim was one of the reasons he lived 3 months. My thanks goes out to the doctors, nurses, social workers, chaplains, CNAs and hospice staff who helped Jim to die with dignity and peace. I was the first in my family to use hospice and my family saw first hand the compassion given to not only Jim but our whole family. Quality Patient Care has always been the number one priority of Joliet Area Community Hospice.

I encourage all of you who read Jim s story to share your story of your loved one s death. Remember Joliet Area Community Hospice not only cares for the patient and family during their illness but they also have an excellent Bereavement Team that cares for family members after their loved one s death.
