This hospital has the WORST ER staff I have ever encountered. On 9 Sept 2015 I took my friend to the ER because her husband had been in a horrific early morning motorcycle accident and was taken to DARNELL HOSPITAL. It had been years past since I had been in this hospital but I was quickly reminded of the arrogancy of the staff once we arrived to the ER. Because it was so early in the morning and I was awaken from my sleep to take my friend to the hospital concerning her injured husband, I had to take my morning seizure meds with me. I figured I could get water from a fountain inside the hospital. I began to approach the ER desk to ask if they had a water fountain after looking around and not seeing one. I took one step in the direction of the desk when one of the ladies quickly raised her hand without speaking and shooed me away. Another lady asked me what did I want? I asked her if there was a water fountain around. She offered to get me some water and I thanked her and waited. I told my friend, "I see this place has not changed." Another lady behind the desk says, "And it's not going to change." At that remark, I told her, " That is the very reason I do not patronize this military installation." The other lady comes back with a very small drink of water in a dixie cup. By then, I'm afraid to drink the water. So I throw the water in the trash and go buy my own water. I don't understand why those females in the ER have such NASTY attitudes. Hospitals have enough to make one sad. If they don't enjoy their jobs they need to give them to others who would appreciate having one. What happen to COMPASSION & CONCERN when it comes to the hospital industry. They should just paint their walls black to match their attitudes. If I was dying.....My last words, I pray....would be...."DO NOT TAKE ME TO DARNELL." This wasn't my 1st horriffic experience with Darnell, but it took me aback & brought ugly memories of when I Used to deal with them when I knew no better or had no choice. I am the spouse of a deceased retired veteran, and it is horrible to think that combined with all the other shortcomings our men who served and died for our country went through, n either them nor their family members can receive decent medical care, nor be treated with a free gift of a simple SMILE & COURTESY. I'm not stopping here....if I have to go to Washington D.C., I promise to be heard and treated better.
