Review of Toyota of Alvin

I made the mistake of going to Toyota of Alvin when purchasing my new vehicle and would like to share my terrible experience to keep anyone from the anguish I am currently dealing with. I went to this dealership because I was looking for a used vehicle which was reliable but affordable to get me by until I graduate from college. I decided on a Corolla for a listed price of $14,500 and also put $5000 down to lower my monthly payment. Chris Tinsley, the finance manager, refused to let me keep a copy of the contract I signed until I came back to drop off the down payment which at the time sounded logical. The following day I gave the $5000 check to Erik Perez, and asked him for a copy of the contract but did not receive it. As a young lady, I fully trusted the employees at Toyota of Alvin and never thought they would take advantage of me. One month later I received the bank statement from where I financed this loan and noticed the balance showing of over $19000. I immediately went to my bank to look into this expecting there to be an error but they referred me to the dealership for clarification since their paperwork looked correct. I went to the dealership and spoke to Chris Tinsley who claims that he attempted to give me my contract but I left before he could. According to them they keep your contract to make sure that you drop off the down payment. Not once did he nor anyone attempt to reach out to me to come back and get it and they also did not ever mail me a copy of any paperwork. I have continuously tried to get in touch with the manager over this location but Kelly Pope who is the assistant manager refuses to give me the contact information and told me "well you signed it" instead of doing anything to assist me in this nightmare situation. I am convinced that they edited my signed contract and added several unwanted warranties without my permission including one for paint protection (mind you my father runs a body shop) and many others. Kelly Pope insists that the General Manager is not available to take my calls or messages and keeps giving me the run around. Being someone who has worked in customer service for 15 years, I am extremely shocked and disappointed that anyone would scam their customers this way. These people have no conscience and only care about making money off hard working people even if it means scamming it out of them. I strongly advise to STAY AWAY from them!!! I wish I would've read the reviews before I purchased a car from them.
