Eric Schafer Review of teamlab

This exhibit is extremely poorly managed from an operational perspective. We purchased tickets in advance and arrived around 11 am (about an hour after opening) the day for which we purchased. The line to just get into the exhibit, for ticket holders, was at least three blocks long--and that's just how far we could see it going. This was a day when the weather was about 45 degrees, raining, and windy. So they had a line of paying ticket holders 3+ blocks long freezing and getting soaked (save for what umbrellas protect) for hours before even getting into the exhibit. When we saw this, we also overheard a couple who was still about a half block from the entrance discussing how long they'd been waiting--and it was already a couple hours at that point. Upon witnessing all of this, we made the painful decision to turn around and leave. Clearly teamLab's goal is to sell as many tickets as possible without any consideration for how it might impact the experience for the paying customers. Their site does indicate that the exhibit can be "sold out" on a given date, but their threshold for selling out must be pretty high. I've also heard from people who have attended, as well as read reviews, where they say that even once you're inside, you still have hours of lines to wait in between all of the exhibits. To top it all off, if you're like us and have no desire to spend precious time on vacation waiting for hours in the cold and rain in a line, teamLab provides an extra slap in the face by refusing a refund. Their reason? They just decided they don't give them. So, unless you're willing to invest a huge chunk of a day on this, and know you're willing to see this exhibit despite a LOT of waiting around, then I don't recommend purchasing tickets. Really disappointing, because we were very excited to see Borderless.
