I used to say tounge-in-cheek "there are no tourist attractions in Iowa. Boy was I wrong! The colonies is a jewel of an attraction. I'm from Alabama and have missed this one many times, but won't ever again if I have the chance. History abounds here and tells the great story of European immigration to Iowa. Go there.
