We stayed for 5 nights over new year 2016/17. Overall it's a very grand hotel in a good location but the staff are all a bit miserable. The rooms come with minimal extras and everything provided by the hotel is expensive.

We got a room on the 2nd floor overlooking syntagma square, the parliament, and could see the acropolis from the window. The room was large enough and high quality. Bed was very comfortable, and bathroom very spacious. TV had very few channels in English. There are a few rubbish movies available on the TV for an extortionate 10 each. The TV has apps like YouTube but that is 12/day to use.

There is wifi - they have free low speed wifi which works well.

The cocktail bar is not worth visiting - the cocktails are nothing special and double the price of all the more interesting bars in town.

The Afternoon tea in the winter gardens was reasonably priced - but having had a lot of afternoon teas in decent hotels in London - the Greek attempt is just about ok. Limited to just one pot of tea or coffee, nice sandwiches, three scones which are all the same, no variety, and some little sweets at the top.

We didn't try breakfast for 33 per person because of the price. It's easy to find somewhere nice to go in town.

There is free access to the spa / small swimming pool with few different treatment rooms such as sauna, steam room and herbal wet rooms which all were ok. It's all in basement which is a bit dull, and can quickly get busy as its only a small area. There is a roof top pool and bar but this is only open in the summer and was closed when we visited.

Overall the hotel decor and grounds are very grand and maintained well. But the staff could do with being a bit more friendly and the hotel could provide some complimentary things to add to the experience so it doesn't feel they're are out to fleece with for every penny after you have made the room booking.
