Review of Slurping Turtle

Having recently moved from San Diego, I was sorely missing ramen in my life, and was very excited to try out the Slurping Turtle. I am happy to report that I was not disappointed.

My friend and I split the medium sashimi plate, and both ordered different styles of ramen. We're both big guys and this was a very filling amount food! Both the presentation of the sashimi plate, and the quality and preparation of the seafood was excellent. The plate included fish and scallops - but the specifics change daily according to the menu.

I ordered the tonkotsu ramen, and it was as rich and delicious as I hoped. It includes some veggies that all seemed freshly prepared, pork, and a soft poached egg. I would say the only negative on the ramen was the inclusion of a small, yet whole bok choy. While I like it in general, I'm not a big fan of the bok choy heart and would have preferred the bok choy to be split up. Likely a personal preference thing and a very small things anyway.

The thing that may rub people the wrong way here is the seating. You have to be OK with common tables for the most part. There are some booths around the edges, but the main seating is a few long bar height tables, and you are seated next to people you don't know. It's becoming more common and isn't something that bothered me, but be warned if this is something you care about!
