So here's the deal, I'm a lover of Disney World and Great Wolf Lodge. I am also a nurse. My standards are pretty high. I read a ton of reviews about Coco Key (waterpark only, didn't stay at the hotel) and was really skeptical but they had a Groupon and I felt like it was worth a try, we could always leave and go do something else if it sucked. It didn't though. Cons: smaller than Great Wolf Lodge, fewer attractions than GWL but not by much, their kid hot tub and adult only hot tubs were closed-they looked like they were going to resurface them when it gets warmer, it takes a while to get your food-like to be 20 min however the food is made to order and is freaking hot. Pros: great price, REALLY CLEAN-cleaner than the KC GWL, floors that don't make you slip and bust your butt, free small cubbies to use, medium sized lockers to rent, first aid station/room/life jacket checkout, neat looking cabanas, nice cafe-decent selection and good prices, GIANT bar with a lot of drink choices, several seating areas-not one giant area only, plenty of lifeguards-they are on it too, the layout is more efficient-the lazy river is like a moat around the jungle gym area so it's easier to see my kids w/o walking all over to try to find them, you don't have to stay at the hotel in order to use the waterpark-you can just purchase admission to the waterpark. Ultimately, I liked it better than Great Wolf Lodge. I would be more than happy to come back here. We didn't stay at the hotel because of the reviews but I would be willing to try the hotel next time we come. I read some reviews about the chlorine smell and water quality, in response to that: the water looks/smells/feels clean. The chlorine smell is a bit strong but not any different from any other indoor waterpark. It's actually less than my local rec center's chlorine smell. I saw staff checking water pH levels with their little kits. The filters/grates did have some stuff stuck in them but 99% were paper wristbands from here. The 1% was made up of hair ties and a few small pieces of plastic film like from the straw wrapper or something.
