There has been a church on this site for over 1000 years, although the present building is not that old as the churches on this sight were often damaged by fire and then rebuilt but parts of this cathedral apparently
do date back at least to the 15th century.
It was almost demolished to build a railway viaduct and as it is, it actually passes with 18 metres.
This area was very heavily bombed during the Second World War and if you look carefully at the exterior of this cathedral you will be able to note some of the shrapnel damage.
