Stayed at Conrad Hilton NY recently and was not impressed. I stay in 5-star hotels around the world, usually Hyatts, Hiltons and SPG hotels.

Conrad was the first 5-star hotel I've ever stayed in that had no doormen. Entering or exiting the hotel, you were on your own. The entrance too looked more like the entrance of a typical office building, not a hotel.

The front desk staff were not helpful either. They made several mistakes with our reservation at check in and we constantly had problems with our key cards. Most of the staff were foreigners and could not communicate well in English. Plus they charged us for 6 bottles of Perrier from our minibar that we never drank--$8 a pop!

About the only staff that were nice were the maids and the bellmen.

Needless to say, next time I'm in NYC I won't be staying at the Conrad.
