Dam release rafting is fun, but go with a different company. We have been on 5 other rafting trips in other parts of PA and WV, and this is by far the worst. I called to make a reservation, the woman on the phone said no need for reservations, but to bring cash. So, we did, only to find out that they take credit cards. To get to the river you have to walk about a mile and a half, then you have to carry your raft through the very cold waters of a stream into the Lehigh river. This is not mentioned anywhere. They do not provide lunch unlike all other raft companies. Instead, they give you a large bucket in which you can store your lunch. This large plastic bag is not attached in any way to the raft, so first it gave me serious bruises on my shins, and second - we lost ours on one of the rapids. We were in a group of at least 25 rafts if not more. We constantly had to stop and wait even at places where the water was too strong to stop. The guides are not guides at all - do no give loud clear directions. All they do is stop you, so you wait for all other rafts to catch up. There were only 4 guides in kayaks. During our trip, a thunderstorm came and it became very cold, and there was pouring rain. Despite that, they insisted on stopping in the middle of the river under the rain to have lunch! The dam release made the Lehigh pretty fun for a family, but not with Pocono Whitewater.
