Anthony Minier Review of The Music Box @ Henry Fonda
This is a great venue for live concerts. It is not...
This is a great venue for live concerts. It is not so large that reverb is going to be an issue as you get further from the stage so the acoustics are generally quite good. I have experienced a music event here that didn't live up to past events I had attended as far as the sound quality was concerned but I later learned that there was an issue with an amp which had not surfaced during the sound check and was not obvious unless you were near the back of the venue. That is the only time I found the sound quality to be less than good to very good. There is a downside to the smaller size of this venue though....they sell out of tickets very quickly for popular acts due to the more limited maximum occupancy. If you are dedicated and diligent and you score tickets for one of your favorite bands, you will not be disappointed. The size of the venue allows the bands to connect with the audience on a more personal level that a large venue just can't duplicate. Besides live concerts this venue sometimes hosts live DJ dance events as well. This is the one time I think the size of the venue actually works against the event. I don't know anyone that likes a dance floor that is so crowded that all you can do is basically sway back and forth with the crowd and the more popular events often suffer from an over crowded dance floor during the peak hours of the event. Parking is usually not a problem but expect to pay a minimum of $10 to park for the evening and those rates go up as you park in the lots closest to the venue. They do have a fairly large parking lot right next door but if the event you are attending starts after the normal business hours of the Pep Boys across the street, you can usually save yourself $5 to $7 by paying the cheaper rate to park in the Pep Boys lot and you only have to walk across the street.
