This has to be the strangest hotel my partner and I have ever stayed in. By far my worst experience and it was only for one night. After staying in a different Holiday Inn about a month ago in PA I had very high expectations and was excited for our stay here in Peabody. Upon arriving the hotel looked run down and old. The front desk staff was kind, however, my partner and I waited at the desk over 5 minutes for someone to arrive and help us each time we had to go up there (which was multiple times). Trying to get a room took an hour and a half even though we pre-booked our room online. The first room keys we received didn t work, I thought I must be putting them in the door wrong so I asked the housekeeping lady to let me in. She opened the door to my room with her master key and before I even walked in I could see the bed was not made and there was trash on the desk and floor from a previous stay. I took the very long walk back up to the desk to inform the staff that my room had not been cleaned yet and my room keys did not work. No apology for giving us a dirty room and the man at the desk said he had a feeling the keys weren t going to work because it had been an ongoing problem. So he assigns us a second room, and the same thing happens, the room keys don t work. So now this is my 3rd time at the desk with an issue, a woman working the desk brought me back to my room for the 3rd time to try my keys and had to let me in with her master key and told me I d have to pick up new keys later and was very apologetic. I was very understanding with the front desk, I don t believe in causing a stink to the people on the front line because more times than not it s not their fault and it s something wrong with management. So now we re finally in a room after an hour and a half and there s water damage on the ceiling above the windows and the ceiling is peeling off, the wallpaper in the bathroom is peeling off the walls and I found hair in the shower drain and on the bed. One of the lamps doesn t work and the bed frame makes a god awful thud and click every time you sit on it like it either broken or is clicking in and out of place. After all this we wake up early the next morning to get breakfast in time. Our confirmation email for the room said we could enjoy a FREE breakfast in their dining room. So we walk around the entire building to the dining area to find out that breakfast is $11 a person and there is in fact NO continental breakfast. Our confirmation email also said that checkout the next day would be at 2pm and the front desk informed us that it was actually 11am that we would have to be out by. Extremely confusing and unprofessional. I would give this place 0 stars if I could expect that the front desk staff was very apologetic, but no accommodations were offered after the fiasco that happened. If I could get my money back I would, this stay was not worth almost $200 for one night. Absolutely ridiculous.
