My Wife and I just had lunch at Jonkershuis and came down to Groot Constantia to make a wine order to ship back to the U.K. Both of us have been to Groot Constantia before and were really excited about the wine, especially after drinking the Sauvignon Blanc with lunch.

Unfortunately we were greeted (or not greeted) by a lady called Lauren on the main desk who honestly could not have been more sullen or unwelcoming. I totally understand that sometimes people may be having a bad day or are not enjoying work but this was borderline humorous. She barely made any eye contact before huffing her way through taking our payment for a small tasting. I don't know if it was because we weren't a part of a tour but I was really taken aback by the lack of care or even basic manners we were shown.

While the members of staff serving the wine were in better spirits, although not as helpful as we remembered, it left a bitter taste in our mouths. We are celebrating our honeymoon and wanted to buy some incredible wine (and the wine here is definitely amazing) to celebrate and remember it by but we couldn't. There is no way that I was happy to place an order after that being welcomed like that. We will try Klein Constantia tomorrow and it will be interesting to find out the difference.
