Moved to KC about a year and a half ago and had some friends coming in to visit. They requested a good steak and didn't care what the cost was. I actually had to do some asking around, we have a Big Green Egg and don't believe we could find one better than we make at home. Plaza III was suggested. I read the reviews and was a bit leery after seeing some people experiences, knowing that we would be spending a good amount of money on a meal that might not be excellent. I am glad we went!

I ordered the oscar filet and white cheddar potatoes. My husband had the prime rib, as did another companion and the other diner had the t-bone. They ordered a baked potato as well as salad with bacon dressing. I had a bit of my husbands salad and that dressing is delicious. All of our steaks were cooked to perfection. The oscar filet comes with a large shrimp on in instead of crab meat, I would have preferred the crab, but the bearnaise sauce and the steak were so good, they could have served it without the shrimp and I wouldn't have cared. The white cheddar potato was incredible and all of my dinner mates had wished they had ordered them. The ONLY complaint (and it's not really a complaint) is that when the salads came the bacon dressing was only luke warm, so they asked that it be heated more, which our waitress promptly took care of.

Our waitress was a very nice girl, not "snooty" like in some reviews that I read. Conversational, but not in the way. The price was high ($400 for the four of us - my husband and I spend $240 with tip), we also had 2 bottles of wine in that $400 bill which were around $70 each. Based on our experience I did not mind paying the bill and I was concerned by other reviews that the was going to be just okay and I would be irritated that we spent so much for mediocre.

I would say that this was the best food I have ever eaten in a restaurant in my life and would certainly recommend it, if someone is looking for a great steak. (But go with the white cheddar potato over the baked, you can get a baked anywhere. ;) )

We did catch the last set of jazz downstairs and wish that we had been able to get down their earlier, it was very good too.
